Planner overview

The Planner is your visual calendar for everything content-related — ideas, drafts, scheduled posts, published posts, failed posts, and notes. Drag and drop between dates, filter by status or channel, switch between week and month views.

Opening the Planner

Click Planner in the side navigation.

You see a calendar (week view by default) with your scheduled and published posts shown as cards on each date.

Five item types you'll see on the Planner

Type

What it is

Idea

A starred concept waiting to be turned into a post

Draft

A post in progress; not yet scheduled

Scheduled

A post queued to publish at a specific time

Published

A post that's gone live

Failed

A post that tried to publish but couldn't (token expired, API error, etc.)

You'll also see:

  • Public holidays (per country)
  • Social holidays (e.g. National Coffee Day)
  • Notes — free-text reminders you've added to a date

Filters & views

The right-hand panel has filters:

  • Status — toggle ideas, drafts, scheduled, published, failed
  • Channel — show only Instagram, only LinkedIn, etc.
  • Content type — single image, carousel, story, reel, text
  • Public holidays — show holidays for your country

Above the calendar:

  • Week / Month toggle
  • Today button — jump back to the current date if you've scrolled
  • Collapse right panel — full-width view
  • Sync past posts — bring in posts you published outside Mavic so the planner is complete

Adding things to the Planner

Three quick ways:

  1. Click an empty date → + — create a new post or add a free-text note
  2. Drag a starred idea from the right panel onto a date
  3. Drag a public/social holiday onto a date as a content anchor

See Adding things to your planner for details.

Editing a scheduled post

Click any post on the calendar to open it. From there:

  • Edit the caption, image, or settings
  • Reschedule — drag to a new date, or update the time
  • Cancel — remove from the schedule (sends back to drafts)
  • Publish now — push live ahead of schedule

Bulk actions

Click Select events to enter selection mode. You can then:

  • Select multiple posts by clicking each
  • Bulk delete

Exporting your planner

Click Export to download an .xlsx of the full planner — useful for sharing with stakeholders or external schedulers.

Tips

  • Plan in months, refine in weeks. Use month view to see the big picture; switch to week view when you're refining.
  • Lock in anchor dates first. Public holidays and product launches are non-negotiable — schedule those, then fill in around them.
  • Don't over-pack. A planner with one good post a day beats a planner with three average posts a day.
  • Drag-and-drop liberally. It's easier to start by dropping ideas everywhere and then trimming than to plan perfectly from scratch.
